Embrace The Opportunity

The Lord gives each of us opportunities and the ability to use those opportunities. If we make the choice to do so, further opportunities will be given to us. If we are not willing to use our opportunities, further ones will be taken from us and we will be punished or disciplined for our indifference (Mt 25:29, Worrell note).

The Lord gives us opportunities to do every task He has assigned to each of us.  Such opportunities are precious because they are not always available (Prov 13:24, Spurrell). The sun only shines for so long. The Lord drawing closer to us lasts only for a while before it is too late (Lk 19:42, Message). If we have not done our service in the time allotted, grace will be withdrawn and loss will occur (Jas 2:13, CW). The loss is not just for us but also for those who were to be corrected or helped in time. To squander the opportunities to help others, knowing we may never get another chance to do so, surely reflects a lack of love. This ought not to be.

We should be people who make the best use of the opportunities that have been given to us (Eph 5:15, ESV). We are to learn what we need to learn from each experience before it is too late (Ps 94:8, Knox) and help others whenever He assigns us the opportunity to do so. Otherwise, we will be worse off for having let the opportunity pass (Lk 13:34, Worrell note). Even worse, those we were to have served will suffer loss also. Let us use our opportunities!
